When to Take Maternity Photos
Having a child can be one of the most joyful experiences in life. While pregnancy, especially in its later stages, can be hard on the body, it’s a beautiful and fleeting time to capture. Many of my clients have a difficult time gauging when it’s the best time to take maternity photos. For example, if you wait too long, it can become difficult and stressful to have maternity photos taken. Here are some guidelines for when to take maternity photos.
When Should You Take Maternity Photos?
Typically, the best time to take maternity photos is in the seventh or eighth months of pregnancy. Somewhere around 30 weeks is a good time to take maternity pictures. At this stage of pregnancy, the belly has a nice round shape and mom still feels pretty good. The longer you wait, the more uncomfortable you might get: indigestion, bloating, and backaches do not make mom a happy camper.
Maternity Photo Tips
Once you’ve scheduled your maternity photo session, it’s time to begin preparing so you can make the most out of our time together. Many of my clients have their hair and makeup done, or even get a massage before their session. When they are relaxed and feel beautiful, we can create timeless maternity photos. Here are a few tips to prepare for maternity photos:
- Choose outfits without distracting patterns and colors. I provide sheer cloths for draping, but you’ll want to bring some solid color clothes, too. Take a look at my maternity portfolio to get an idea of what works.
- Remember to moisturize your beautiful belly.
- Make time to discuss ideas and concepts with me before your session.
- Pamper yourself and feel your most confident before our session.
