My name is Jayme Okerblom and I’m so pleased you are considering Miette Photography. I am a long-tenured University Park baby photographer and University Park maternity photographer, with over 25 years of experience and a background in high fashion and art photography. I love working with families and watching them grow and change. We start with maternity photos, then newborn, six-month photos, one-year photos, and family photography later on. I become close to my repeat clients, and many have been with me for a long time. When you’re choosing a photographer to work with your kids, you need to think about their safety. Some photographers pose babies in trendy ways or with questionable props. This could put your child at risk. I studied under a NICU nurse and trained on how to safely handle newborns, especially their fragile necks and heads. I’m also a mother of two and a child advocate, so safety is a top priority for me in every session.

If you’re wanting maternity photos, remember to look for a photographer that will keep the focus on you. If there are a lot of props or a visually cluttered background, the eye is distracted. I compose my photos in a simple and elegant way, always with complementary soft lighting.
