Your Session

There is no creativity in perfection.
My sessions are fun, laid-back and casual. No fancy clothes or matching white shirts or pressed pants necessary. Kids are welcome to wear special outfits for the session but they are also welcome in their jammies or with peanut butter and jelly still on their faces. I love tousled hair and paint-smeared faces even more than I love perfect curls and pinafores. I want to record you, your real life and the real personalities and love you share for each other.

Don’t worry about time. We will not be in a rush. Our goal is to capture a slice of your child’s life – the best time of their lives – not to capture perfect poses in under an hour.

Sometimes I may ask you to wander off a little way so that I can work with the kids by themselves. They are less intimidated and a little more engaged that way.
Now for the basics:

I am usually booked 6 – 8 weeks in advance for the majority of the year. I start booking holiday sessions in August and most are taken by September. So book early if you want those holiday portraits. I keep some extra floating days available just for newborn sittings all year long, so as long as you schedule ahead of time I should be able to get you in regardless of the season.

To schedule a session, please fill out the contact form found under my contact link or call me at 214.864.5787 and I will get back to you as soon as possible – usually within 24 hours. I will then work with you to find the best available appointment time to fit your needs. I book only a certain number of sessions per month not only to maintain the quality of the sessions but also to maintain the quantity of time I have to perfect your images. Keep in mind that weekday sessions are $200 while Saturday sessions are $250. Your session fee will be due at the time of booking in order to hold your appointment.

I highly recommend all family sessions (two adults with two or more children) be held on location – either in your home or outdoors.

For newborn sessions, please contact me for an appointment early. I will then add you to my calendar in accordance with your due date. We all know that babies pay no attention to due dates so I always keep my newborn schedules flexible. I shoot most newborn sessions in my studio where I have access to a variety of props, backgrounds and lighting options. However, some families opt to shoot in their home if they have a lot of large windows and good natural light.

Maternity sessions are best shot around 34-36 weeks when your belly is nice and big but you are still relatively comfortable.

After your session we will book your photo review and print ordering session. Plan to return to the studio within 7 – 10 days of your shoot for this. In that time I will be editing and fine-tuning the final images and preparing your slideshow. All print, framing and product orders must be made during this consultation and paid for in full at that time, so please bring all the decision makers. Orders are non-refundable and cannot be cancelled once they are made. Additional items may be added to the original order at a later time but no items may be removed. But don’t worry, I will work with you to help you choose the best images and materials to make your final choices beautiful works of art that will fit your home and your personality.

There is a minimum order of $350 towards an album or wall art required for each session before gift prints (8×10 and smaller) and digital files can be purchased.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions at 214.864.5787 or use my website contact form.
