This baby was in fact born LAST year. But it seems fitting to start off the New Year with some newborn photos! Hey, it’s only been a few days of 2016 so far – none of my expecting clients have delivered yet!
The New Year’s Baby is a common image seen around this time of year, representing the birth and fresh start of the New Year. Inexplicably, he’s often wearing a top hat – for the snazzy New Year’s party that all newborns go to, I presume?
There was no top hat for this little dude but he was still cute as he slept through most of the shoot. And I still thought he was cute even after he pooped everywhere. I actually dodged the bullet this time, but my curtains were not so lucky. Oh well. That’s what extra-strength laundry detergent is for.
This little guy’s father is also a photographer, but he specializes in architectural photography. While he knows the ins and outs of taking photos, he wanted someone who specializes in taking photos of newborns to take over. Just because you’re a photographer doesn’t mean you can shoot everything well. Like him, I agree that babies and buildings are VERY different subjects. Shooting architecture requires specialized lenses and equipment. I wouldn’t have a clue about any of it! I’m very happy sticking to what I know – even if it involves some poop here and there.
