Today’s post makes me particularly happy to share, as we are celebrating Independence Day next week. Mom and dad are both military veterans of Afghanistan, expecting their first child together, and so excited about being parents. These Dallas maternity photos capture a lot of emotion and beauty.
This couple chose have some of the maternity photos include dad, which I think is a wonderful idea. In three of the pictures below, you’ll see them together and their love for each other shines. There was a lot of tenderness during this photo shoot, which was a pleasure to capture. Including dad also means someday, baby can look back on these photos and see the gratitude and happiness in his parents’ faces at the idea of him and catch a glimpse of their “pre-baby” relationship. That’s a real treasure.
I’ve also included some photos that capture the beauty of mom’s pregnant belly. She is draped in soft, sheer cloth or wearing simple shirts to show off her new curves. I decided to shoot some of these as black and white maternity photos to keep the focus on her, without the distraction of color, and to emphasize the emotion of the pictures. I also find that black and white maternity photos have a timeless, classic look with a great tonal range between the darkest blacks and the whitest whites. Many of my clients say these are their favorite when they see all their images.
