Lots of parents want to book a professional photoshoot when their baby is brand new to the world—time to capture those sweet first moments of life. But they forget to keep booking as their child gets older. Six-month baby photos are a wonderful idea, too. Baby is a little older and a lot more engaged with the camera, bubbling over with personality and curiosity about the world around him.
Today, I’ve got some adorable six-month baby photos to show you from a recent shoot in my Dallas studio. This little boy had awesome crazy hair that is a second star in the pics. So cute. He was not particularly happy with us taking his photos at first. However, I’ve got a few tricks up my sleeve. After working as a baby photographer for almost 20 years (and having two kids myself), I’ve learned how to appease even the grumpiest of babies. And this little guy was only mildly irritated.
Getting this child happier about his six-month baby photos just took some reading and engaging with him. And just like that, he was suddenly interested in what was happening and interacting with the camera. Just look at those big eyes and gummy smiles.
I’ve mentioned before that I encourage parents to be a part of their newborn’s photoshoot. It captures a special time in a family’s life together: it’s beginning. I feel the same way about six-month baby photos: I love to see a family posing with their infant, holding him close and loving on him. These are the kind of photos people look back on and cherish because they see the special relationship they have formed with their baby.
