Here’s a great photoshoot I did recently of a cute little boy in Dallas. We originally aimed for a more urban session but realized pretty quickly that this little toddler needed some more action so we headed for a nice park where he could safely run around and play and climb on things. And maybe attempt to eat a few plants. It was scorching hot outside but we still managed to have fun and get some great family photos.

One thing I have realized over the years in photographing small children or toddlers is that they will absolutely run the show – every time. You can plan your location, a theme or style, and even plan your shots in advance. But in the end, it will all be up to the whims of the child. That is actually how most events in my home go right now too. I can plan my day with my kids and decide when and where we will go and what we will do but that all inevitably changes depending on the mercurial mood of Miette. Sometimes she’s up for anything and sometimes her mission in life seems to be to make everyone around her personal slave.
