There are so many things to love about the following stylish newborn shoot, and many of them are the result of the choice to do an in-home session rather than a studio session. I love in-home sessions because not only am I capturing the infant being her adorable self, but I also get to showcase the family’s personal style in their home decor, as well as capture memories of beloved pets, rooms, toys and other items that the baby will grow up with.

This home was so stylish and beautifully decorated, with lots of great natural light, and some amazing features in the nursery alone: an awesome spotted armchair for nursing, reading to, and rocking baby to sleep; a beautiful woven red rug and white ottoman; and a wall display with the baby’s name and shelves of books that she’ll grow up hearing and reading. Not kidding, I don’t need a nursery anymore and I still wanted everything in here.

They also wanted to showcase their dog as well, who was great with the baby, and with whom the baby was very interested. I’m not sure how, but even the pup seemed to match well with all the furniture in each room!

This infant was very alert, too. Perhaps it was being at home, with minimal intrusion on her daily routine, or maybe I just got her at the right time of day. In either case, we got some lovely curious and alert looks out of her.
