Take a look at this handsome baby boy and his sweet parents. We did his in-home newborn photo session a few weeks ago, and he was great! Their Rowlett home was lovely. With a nursery decorated in soft neutrals, subtle grays, and navy with a couple of bright pops of color. They had a great big dog who liked to stay close and watch over everyone. And Grandma was behind-the-scenes to help out, and just generally gaze adoringly at her new grandson.
There are several benefits to choosing to have your newborn’s photo session at your house. First of all, you don’t need to pack up and bring tons of stuff for baby with you because it’s all right there in your home. No need to stuff the diaper bag full of baby paraphernalia only to forget the wipes – or diapers! Also, parents tend to be a little more at ease during these shoots. Everyone is more comfortable with familiar surroundings.
But one of the best benefits of staying home for a portrait session is that your images will show off your home. And it’s really convenient that they’ll feature your furniture and paint colors. Any images you choose to blow up and hang on the wall will already go with your decor’. It’s also really handy for me as a photographer to see your preferred styles and colors. That way I can pose, shoot, and crop your photos in the way that will fit perfectly in your house.
However, there is one very big factor in deciding if your home is right for an in-home session and that is LIGHT! Some houses are just not designed with lots of big windows that allow for natural light. Or they might have covered patios or large trees blocking the windows outside. While there are some lighting tools that I take with me, nothing can replace the look that natural light gives to an indoor setting. This home was just on the edge of suitable for an in-home session. Usually, I like even more light but we made it work.
