Come in for Your Pre-Shoot Consultation

After you’ve contacted us to book a session, Jayme will schedule a pre-shoot consultation. She’ll ask you about which photo styles you prefer and suggest which pieces of clothing to bring for your baby. Together, you will set the tone for props, mood, and shooting style.

What you want from the session is what you’ll get. The consultation helps Jayme prepare for the shoot. It also lets you get a lay of the land. And you’ll be more prepared when the day comes to visit the studio with your baby.

Bring Your Baby in for a Session in the First Year of Life

It’s photoshoot day! We suggest bringing in a newborn between seven to 14 days after they’re born. If your baby is coming into the studio a bit older–four weeks up to one year–then getting them to sleep is a bit tricker. But on the other hand, they’re more alert and can sit up and move around. Plus, we get some really fun facial expressions.

The shoot will go more smoothly if your baby is well-rested and fed. We try to avoid cranky tears, if possible! But no matter what, Jayme has the skills and training to soothe your baby and make them as comfortable as possible.

Choose a Few Minimalist Props

Jayme offers a selection of simple, cozy, and fun props to choose from. And they might match your baby’s personality or reflect the mood you’ve chosen for the shoot. From stuffed animals to books to birthday cake, there’s a prop for every little one!

However, we’re careful not to overdo it with the props. In The Evolution of Baby Photos, we explained how baby photos in the 90s and early 2000s used elaborate costumes and props. But that’s not our look. Jayme leans toward a minimalist style of photos that will never go out of fashion. Even as your child is growing up, these photos will stand the test of time and preserve that first year of life forever.

Rest and Relaxation for Mom

Finally, when you come backstage for your baby’s photo session, you’ll have time to rest. Take a break from the hectic parenting life, the sleepless nights, and the tiny humans who take all your attention. You can bring a book, stream your favorite show on an iPad, or even take a nap on our cozy couch. Our goal is to make you as comfortable as possible while we care for your little one for a few hours.
