One reason I love being a Dallas baby and newborn photographer is I get to see the great joy new family members bring to those around them. It’s cause for a huge celebration for everyone.

Today’s post is a family photography session celebrating the birth of a new baby boy. It includes every family member, from newborn and toddler to mom, dad, grandma, and even the family dog. Everybody had big smiles and lots of love to share.

Including other family members in newborn photos is a wonderful way to make older siblings feel important. It also shows the relationships between different people. Mom and dad were hilarious during this family photography session and clowned around in some of the shots — so much personality came through. Even the dog looks happy to be there, especially in the photo of him with the baby. True love.

When there are this many moving parts (and people) in a family photography session. It’s important to have good communication and stay organized. I talked with the parents ahead of time to map out who would be there. In other words, how we could keep the more sensitive members of the family happy (animals and babies) when they weren’t being photographed. The dog helped a lot with keeping the older boy distracted while I was taking photos of his new baby brother alone with other family members. Creating a plan ahead of time makes for happy faces, and lets me capture the best side of every family member.
