Today, I’m sharing some darling family photos from my Dallas studio. This couple had recently become first-time parents and were thrilled about capturing their new dynamic on camera, especially that precious little boy. Instead of a traditional infant photo shoot, they opted for one that included all three of them. And, their relationship, joy, and love for each other. I love this.

I always do a pre-shoot consultation to talk about expectations and answer any questions that may come up. We talk about what poses work best for a baby, safety, how long to allow, what time of day is best, and more. Be sure to read my post, Questions to Ask a Newborn Photographer. Inevitably, people ask me, “What should we wear?”

The answer is simple: whatever makes you feel your best. If getting your hair and makeup done will make you feel like a million bucks, do it. Does wearing casual denim and a tee will make you feel more comfortable? Do it.  If you’re a fashion maven, by all means, show me what you got. These are your family photos, and they should reflect your personalities.

The family I’m featuring below had a low-key, comfortable vibe. And they wanted that style to be a part of their pictures. I always suggest we keep any props to a minimum because I want the focus of every photo to be the people and the emotion. As you can see below, we achieved that with this family photo shoot.

I’d love to talk to you about making your family photos into everything you ever hoped. Contact me to chat.
