I’d like to introduce Mercedes, one of my maternity clients and most recently, a newborn client. Mercedes is from the U.K. and her parents and sister were visiting when she came in for her maternity session. Both her sister and mother got to be a part of this process, which made it really special for her. Even though she was a bit nervous at first, she quickly became more comfortable as the shoot progressed.

After her maternity shoot, she came into my studio with her mother for the photo review session. Her mother announced as they walked in that she was probably going to cry once she saw some of the images. But as it happened, they both began crying on viewing the same image (2nd one below). These were good tears, of course. Every other image elicited oohs and ahs – and sometimes more tears.

From her maternity session, Mercedes ordered a large gallery wrap. We coordinated color and mood between the two sessions so that she could have an image from each that would look great hanging side by side in her home.

I asked Mercedes to share a bit of her experience. Here’s what she had to say:

[I] did a lot of google searching and thought that [Jayme’s] site and photographs therein stood out a mile from the others I had seen, tasteful but also fun and so beautiful, the clarity and focus of each image was stunning. I was really excited to have both the maternity as well as newborn “before and after” taken after viewing the photos on the site. It was my husband and mother-in-law who convinced me to have the shoot. After speaking to his mother [he] said he wanted me to go for it as she treasured being able to look back at pictures of herself at that time.

[I] thought it would be lovely to have both maternity as well as newborn pictures as [we] did not have any official wedding photos and my husband and I really wanted to capture these fleeting moments as best we could.

Both Jayme and her makeup artist, Gabrielle, made me feel comfortable and relaxed from the moment that I arrived and started going through clothing choices for the shoot. I enjoyed all of it from start to finish, and it is hard to pick a favorite moment, but I would have to say I loved it when James decided he wanted to kick up a storm while I was having a shot taken lying down. At that moment it really felt that he was part of what was going on, and both Jayme & Gabrielle could connect with him as well. Will never forget this experience and glad to have such a wonderful memory to add to my collection from the good side of pregnancy… cannot wait to do it all over again!!

This was my first ever photoshoot (other than school pictures) so had no idea what to expect or how to pose and that did make me feel really nervous before having the shoot. I was also worried about how I looked, being quite far along in my pregnancy, I was very large and had not dyed my hair, etc for a while. However Jayme’s makeup artist Gabrielle did a wonderful job with both my hair & makeup, and Jayme gave me great direction for each shot and did a fabulous job as she always does, I could not be happier!

Initially I picked Jayme because of the images on her site as that was all I had to go by. After working with her over the last few months, on both the pictures of me as well as James (my son), I would choose her again not only for the latter but also for her professionalism, talent and amiability. I had so much fun with her, she always put me at ease and was extremely helpful when I had requests.

A lot of thanks to Mercedes for being a beautiful subject and for answering questions for this post.
