Time for a birthday party in the park. This guy recently turned 1 year old! So we trekked out to the park and lucked out on some nice, sunny weather. With balloons, cake, and yes, even a fancy blue chair in tow… We parked ourselves in a spot by the water and let this guy play.

As he’s now a 1-year-old, his family will return to India for a month. Where he’ll go through a traditional head-shaving. This practice is typically done as a sort of a spiritual cleansing, allowing negative traits from past lives that may be stored in the newborn hair to be shed. It sounds like an interesting ritual, and something I think some of us can relate to. I know I’ve felt like I’ve rid myself of some bad energy and mojo when I’ve changed hair-dos before.

In any case, this kiddo’s thick hair (which he had even at 6 months and as a newborn) will soon be gone, and he’ll get a fresh start. What else is there to do before a cleansing but eat cake and get the frosting all over yourself? Good plan, kid. Good plan.
