In my work as a Dallas newborn photographer, I get to meet a lot of adorable babies and families. That interaction is one of the best part of my days, especially when it’s a repeat client and I get to see a family grow and change. Watching cute newborns become curious toddlers and preschoolers is wonderful.
Today, I’m sharing a newborn photo shoot of an entire Dallas family, who were overjoyed to welcome a baby boy as their third child, joining older twin brother and sister. Mom and dad make some of the cutest babies in the world. Check out the twins’ six-month photo shoot and tell me I’m wrong! I still think of those adorable babies! Mom and dad also had a great sense of fun: everyone wore matching holiday jammies for this photo shoot. All five of them played and interacted.
So what does it mean to combine family and newborn photo session? For a big family like this with two active toddlers, it means a lot of planning! I recommend one parent come with the newborn and the other come with the toddlers. We take the family photos first, while everyone is in a great mood, and then the toddlers can go home instead of getting impatient while I take the baby photos. If grandma or another family member or friend can come along, that is even more helpful.
Since newborns spend most of their time snoozing or eating, they are the easier subject. For this newborn boy, we took our time and posed him in a variety of backgrounds and outfits. I never overdo it with props so the focus is on baby.
