Photoshoots and posing have been known to be intimidating for… well, lots of people. We all know someone who gets in front of the camera and freezes or does everything in their power to “act natural” but ends up looking like a robot. I don’t want that to be you, or anyone I photograph. So here are my Top 5 Tips for Posing at your session.

Prep for Confidence-

The more confident you feel, the better it will transfer. If you feel your best after a facial, mani/ Pedi, when your makeup is on point or after spin class…do that. Whatever is your confidence-booster, do it and rock it. If you feel good and feel confident, that will transfer!

Posing and Moving Your Body-

Do your best to not stand in front of the camera and clench. Walk like normal, look around, look at the people in your group. Bend your elbows, don’t lock your knees and you will be fine. Just make sure you aren’t stopping yourself from doing human things, because there is a camera pointed at you. Posing doesn’t have to be unnatural!

Think Happy Thoughts-

Happy thoughts show! If you are down about the session and dreading it, it will show. If you have kids with you, forget about their tantrums before you got to the studio, and focus on the smiles and laughs happening at the moment. Those moments are the ones you want to remember, not how hard it was to get out the door.

Dress for Success-

This goes hand-in-hand with prepping for confidence. Look good, feel good. Make sure you are loving your look. Any boost of confidence is great for photos. We all have that one outfit that makes us feel incredible, rock it!
