This blog post is part of a series on the first year album tradition. Be sure to check out the maternity post and the newborn post.

The first year album photo sessions include maternity portraits as well as newborn, six month and one year photoshoots. Many of my clients choose book multiple sessions in addition to newborn or maternity portraits for many reasons. Multiple sessions allow them to bring in additional family members. It’s also popular to feature family heirloom items like christening gowns or handmade baby clothes from grandma. The first year album also gives a fascinating glimpse into a family’s evolution and growth.

The particular family featured in this post (and the previous maternity post) has elected to do the first year album with each of their three children. It is so much fun to see how older siblings interact with their newest family members and my clients love looking back at previous shoots to see how they can incorporate new ideas into each photo session.

Growing Fast | Six Month Sessions

Newborn photo sessions are a precious, unique time to work with my clients. I have almost 20 years of hands on experience photographing newborns and understand how important it is for my clients to trust their photographer and any other photo or styling team members handling their newest bundle of joy. Safety comes first and is of utmost importance. Making sure mom and baby are comfortable and happy ensures that capturing these sweet moments is a piece of cake. My new expanded studio also allows additional group portraits, ensuring all family members get their portrait with the new baby.

Thinking About a First Year Album?

Newborn photoshoots are some of the most beautiful experiences a new mom and her family can have.
