Getting ready for a photo session can be stressful for you if you are the one in front of the camera. It is not a normal position to be in unless you are a model! We, photographers, know that – and we try to do everything in our power to give you some peace of mind. That being said, there are some things you can do to ease your fears.

Prep is Everything

Confidence is key. That may be so so cliché, but it is incredibly true and important when you are doing a session. Do what you need to do to prep for the day. Those things that give you an extra boost of confidence – work them into your schedule right before a session. If that means getting your hair and makeup professionally done for your shoot… do it! Or even getting your nails done or buying a new outfit. Do it! If you are uncomfortable or insecure about something on the day of your shoot, it will come through in the photos.

Food is Important Too

Sometimes clients don’t want to eat. Whether it is nerves or they think it will make them look better in a shoot… I don’t really know. But I will always, always, always advise being fed. Adults and kids. What they say is true, you aren’t you when you’re hungry. Drink water, have water on hand. Bring a snack. Sometimes sessions can be long – sustenance can make the day run smoother. Don’t deprive yourself for the sake of the shoot! Make it a part of your prep instead.
